General Information
Established in 1871, Thurgauer Kantonalbank (TKB) is an independent institution of public law, based on the Thurgauer Kantonalbank Act, concluded March 21, 1988. TKB is entirely owned by the Canton (State) of Thurgau and registered with the Companies' Register (No. CH-440.8.003.247-3).
Headquartered in Weinfelden, TKB operates 30 branches, all located in Thurgau.
TKB is authorised and regulated by the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority FINMA. If you require a proof of banking license, please consult the list of all authorised banks(1) which the FINMA regularly publishes.
Know Your Customer / Anti-Money Laundering / Terrorist Finacing Information
As a regulated bank based in a country which is a member of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), TKB is subject to the following laws and AML regulations:
- Federal Act of October 10, 1997 on the Prevention of Money Laundering in the Financial Sector (Anti-Money Laundering Act; SR 955.0);
- Agreement on the Swiss bank's code of conduct with regard to the exercise of due diligence (CDB 08) of April 7, 2008;
- Ordinance of December 8, 2010 of the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority on the Prevention of Money Laundering and the Financing of Terrorism (FINMA Anti-Money Laundering Ordinance 1; SR 955.022).
TKB's written policies and procedures to prevent and detect money laundering and potential terrorist financing meet the requirements imposed by these laws and regulations. Said policies and procedures include particularly the identification of all clients, the disclosure of suspicious transactions and activities, continous staff training, record keeping requirements, and ongoing independent audits.
USA PATRIOT Act Certification
Pursuant to the USA PATRIOT (Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism) Act and final rules issued by the U.S. Department of the Treasury, a U.S. bank or a U.S. broker-dealer in securities (a "Covered Financial Institution") is required to obtain certain information from any "Foreign Bank" that maintains a correspondent account with it.
As permitted by the final rules, TKB has prepared a Global Certification(2) for use by any financial institution that believes it requires a Patriot Act Certification from TKB. Please use this Certification instead of asking TKB to complete a separate Certification form.
